Any submission that does not follow the guidelines is subject to deletion.
Submit up to 15 pages (double-spaced, with 1" margins) at a time (no limit to the number of individual stories). Excerpts from longer works fine. Whether you are submitting one 15-page story, or numerous 1-page stories, all pieces should be saved in a single .doc, .pdf, or .rtf file, with no identifying information (such as author name) anywhere in the document. In other words, do not type your name at the top of the page. If you send stories as separate, individual submission files to Submittable, each will be deleted and you may not hear a response from us. For stories that are more than one page, indicate story title and page number at the top of second and subsequent pages (for instance "Summer Picnic, page 2").
No previously published work.
Simultaneous submissions okay.
Upon publication, High Plains Register claims First North American Serial Rights; after publication, all rights revert to the author, with the understanding that High Plains Register will receive credit if the piece is reprinted elsewhere.
